Head of Technical Operations (Process) – Alumina Refinery | Grade: AGM / DGM

Role Scope

We are hiring a dynamic leader to head Technical Operations for a 1.5 MTPA Alumina Refinery in Andhra Pradesh, for a leading Manufacturing Group.

This is a critical leadership role reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, leading Process Control, Technical Cell, Process Optimization and DCS/APC specialists.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Education: BE / B.Tech in Chemical Engineering (mandatory); M.Tech preferred
• Experience: 15–20 years in Alumina Refining; Bayer Process experience mandatory
• Current Level: Sr. DGM / DGM or equivalent, heading Technical Operations in a large alumina refinery
• Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of Bayer Process chemistry, thermodynamics and equipment across the full circuit – Bauxite Handling, Grinding, Digestion, Clarification, Precipitation, Classification, Evaporation, Calcination and Utilities
• Controls & Digital: DCS (Yokogawa / Honeywell), APC, Process Simulation (HSC, Aspen), Mass & Energy Balance, PI Historian, Python / MATLAB; ML-based optimization is an advantage
• Standards: Working knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 and Process Safety Management (PSM)
• Preferred: Exposure to capacity upgradation / expansion from 1.0 to 1.5+ MTPA.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Act as custodian of refinery process technology; provide solutions for chronic bottlenecks, yield loss, and energy and quality deviations
• Lead RCA for process abnormalities, production loss and quality failures
• Drive DCS/APC and control-loop optimization to improve Alumina Yield, Caustic Consumption, Specific Steam/Power and Product Quality (LOI, Alpha-Alumina, PSD, BET)
• Standardize SOPs, SOCs and operating windows
• Provide technical inputs for new projects: review PFDs, P&IDs, equipment sizing, HAZOP and bid evaluations; lead pre-commissioning, commissioning and PGTR
• Identify and execute low-CAPEX capacity upgradation beyond 1.5 MTPA; lead debottlenecking studies and validate mass/energy balances
• Reduce specific consumption of Bauxite, Caustic, Lime, Flocculant, Steam and Power
• Mentor the technical team and coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, Projects, Quality, EHS, Corporate and RUSAL technical experts
